Saturday, June 14, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Alpha
Epsilon Omicron (AEO) alumni, Melissa Enos, allowed the AEO chapter to
volunteer for the Zumbathon at the Japan International Karate Center in Goose
Creek. Zumba instructor Queeny collaborated with Enos to bring in around 40
people to raise funds for the chapter. Enos and Queeny donated over $500 from
the event to the AEO chapter for the PTK scholarship fund.
Thirteen PTK volunteers set up tables
for the Zumba class, providing bananas, water, Gatorade, and granola bars for
free. More tables were set up with homemade goodies like brownies, cookies,
cakes and baked goods for sale. Enos sold tickets for door prizes handed out at
the end of the event.

Paul Binion, president of PTK, says, “The event was very successful and
we have established a baseline for future Zumbathon events,” giving the chapter
more opportunities to fund scholarships for its members in the future.
Keep
up with PTK on their Facebook page Trident Technical College - Phi Theta Kappa.
TTC students can join Phi Theta Kappa if their GPA is maintained at a three
point five or higher. The fee to join is sixty dollars; however, all members
reap the benefits of National Phi Theta Kappa scholarships, conventions and
other outings the group attends. PTK is a very active club at Trident Tech,
organizing fundraisers for their scholarships, college service projects and
community projects.
