Coastal Carolina Fair

by Zaneta Kennedy
Autumn is among us, so you know what that means—the fair is coming to town. The Coastal Carolina Fair opens for its 56th year on October 25th, and this year it is extended to 11 days. That’s right: the fair is open for a second Sunday for the first time ever.
There will be 62 exciting rides, including the Crazy Mouse roller coaster, Mega Drop, Space Roller, 4 Ferris Wheels, and much more.

There are a variety of shows, and an 11th day means more shows to watch. Some of the performers include The Oak Ridge Boys on Tuesday the 30th and the Village People on Halloween. There will be hypnotist and lumberjack shows multiple times every day. Also, there will be a fireworks show every night.
Of course, you can’t forget the food. Funnel cakes, corn dogs, and deep-fried Twinkies. Yum!
Gate admission is $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and $8 for adults. Children ages 5 and younger get in free. Entertainment and shows are free with gate tickets. Ride coupon books and hand stamp tickets are both $20. You can also purchase tickets in advance for a discounted price until October 24th. Parking is free.
The fair will take place in Exchange Park in Ladson on highway 78. For a complete list of entertainment, advance ticket pricing, and directions, visit the fair’s website at
