Maymester Break and Hiring

We're on Maymester break over here at the Trident Times, but don't let that stop you from reading. Trident Tech students and faculty published over 100 articles, poems, short stories, opinion pieces, features, reviews and more right here during the Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters.  In the past year, we published two print editions, started this blog, attracted 50-300 page views a day, employed six student editors, published the work of more than 60 students, worked with 10 faculty editors, and coordinated across multiple divisions on campus. We've been busy, so check out all the great reading to see the results!

We are currently hiring contributing student editors for the Trident Times student newspaper for the summer semester. We offer free tuition for the summer semester commitment. If all goes well, your position could be renewed in the fall and future semesters. Please see Ann Welty in 410/130 or contact her at ann.welty@tridenttech.edu for an application.

What does a contributing editor do?
  • Writes articles for the online and print versions of the newspaper
  • Develops relationships with writers and coaches them in writing for the newspaper
  • Edits and fact checks submissions
  • Solicits submissions
  • Works with faculty mentors to develop writing and editing skills
  • Meets deadlines and attends staff meetings (summer semester TTH 1:00-2:00 in 510/111)
